my approach

My approach is built on trust and mutual respect. I am warm, positive, and empathetic.

I use an integrative approach that is built on collaboration.

Below are a few of the evidence-based theories and therapy modalities that I incorporate in my work. I only use treatments that have been proven to be effective.

There is not a ‘one-size’ fit’s all guide to therapy. We will work together to create a tailored plan of treatment.

 Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is based on the idea that what we think determines how we feel and how we behave. Together we will focus on challenging and changing unhelpful thinking patterns and develop healthy ways to cope with difficulty.

Insight Therapy

Insight Therapy (Talk Therapy) is used to provide a safe and supportive space to explore your circumstance, to learn more about yourself, and identify areas of change and healing. We will explore emotions, identify patterns of thought and habit, and reflect on how stressors are affecting your life and work towards developing strategies and solutions to improve your satisfaction with life.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a 12 session treatment that has been effective in reducing symptoms of PTSD.  It is typically delivered over 6 or 12 weeks. This therapy helps individuals identify the narrative they are holding about the trauma they experienced and ultimately learn how to challenge and modify unhelpful beliefs related to the trauma. In addition to learning how to challenge your negative thoughts, we will explore how your trauma has affected your sense of safety, control, trust, esteem, and intimacy.

Attachment Informed Therapy

Together we may explore your attachment style. Your attachment style refers to your ability to form and maintain meaningful, empathetic, and trusting relationships. Insecure attachment early in life may lead to attachment issues throughout life. Together we will learn what healthy relationships look like and how to develop satisfying relationships, built on trust and strong emotional bonds.

Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an evidence-based approach that has been successful in relieving many types of psychological stress. What makes this approach unique is the use of dual focus of attention and alternating bilateral visual, auditory, and/or tactile stimulation. EMDR has been successful in treating troubling symptoms such as disturbing memories, panic attacks, addictions, stress, anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic reactions.
